He said Star Trek is too “philosophical”? Screw that noise.
I don’t know when this interview happened but I AM SAD AND ANGRY NOW
The philosophies in Star Trek are kinda part of the actual setting. If you don’t get that, why are you allowed to make Star Trek movies.
Sigh. The whole point of Star Trek is that it’s philosophical. If you don’t want philosophical Science Fiction, there’s plenty of that for you to enjoy, but Star Trek is philosophical. Philosophy is part of Star Trek’s DNA, and if you’re given the captain’s chair, you’d better damn well respect that.

Totally getting my nerd on. I know that the new Star Trek is supposed to appeal to Average Cinema Goer Who Dun’t Like The Trek Wars but I’m a Trek fan and dammit, if I want to flail about the lack of dilithium crystals in the new Enterprise, I will.
Mostly, I’m just looking at sizes, and going, “Wait, the new Enterprise is HOW MUCH larger than the Enterprise-E??”
I’m a nerd and I don’t care.

One thing I have always loved about that very last shot is that in those wides, in the original cutscene, the crowd was animated so that it was moving in complete unison. Hilarious. XD

Pierce, why, exactly, have you decided to take a walk without a space suit?

I’m gonna take a moment out to give massive massive props to my nerdlet girl Hannah for doing the FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE by reviewing 31 books in 31 days in an exercise every one of us here at nerdlet central (adjacent to nerdlet west) thought was crazy awesome. But mostly crazy.
Now we need to get her a trophy or something. I vote for gold-painted egg cup.
This is unbearably hilarious for reasons only about four people will ever know. I can no longer listen to this song without burying my face into my hands and trying vainly to suppress my giggles.
But this is a pretty goddamn sweet version regardless.

I like how in the ending, everyone ignores Sebastian as he’s ranting and raving, because of the way it was written that he might not be present. Mostly, I wish I hadn’t installed The Exiled Prince, because his screaming impotently at everyone keeps interrupting the drama of the moment. I played it through without the DLC back when the game first came out, and it was way better, imo.
I can finally post this, since it was a present that has since been presented. :3
The hardest bit was getting it into the damned frame (hence wonkiness).
As one cross-stitcher to another, I accidentally found an easy way to get the clothe to go back to being straight. Wash it with dish-soap and then microwave it in ten second increments. It straightens and stiffens back up and won’t be as wonky looking when you put it back in the frame. :)
Awesome. I’m gonna have to try that. Thanks for the tip! :D
